FACT: being a teenager is hard.
Trying to live up to the expectations of your parents, your teacher, your youth pastor, and your friends can be a real downer sometimes. Everyday you are faced with new challenges while being granted more and more freedom. Sometimes we make bad decisions, things we regret for years and sometimes we hit home runs.
One of my biggest influences as a young adult was Michael Jordan. If you don’t know (and you really should) he was the greatest basketball player of all time. I didn’t just look up to him because of his athletic prowess, I also appreciated how he carried himself. Every time I would see him exit the bus at an away game he wore a suit and tie. I never heard him bad mouth other teams or players and it seemed he really loved his family and was a good dad. I learned things from watching, observing and paying attention.
We have so much free information now a days with all our newfangled technology. You have unlimited amounts of information in your pocket in the form of a cell phone. In essence, you have the world at your finger tips. I really hope you utilize that information for more useful things than checking the Facebook status of your friends.
Might I suggest checking out Relevant Magazine? It’s an online and print publication that dives into interesting topics like Faith, Music and Life. I have been inspired and motivated by it’s pages on more than one occasion.
